Pamiętacie film „Apartament” i wakacyjne wypady Papieża w gronie najbliższych współpracowników? Tak było również w lipcu 1987r., gdy Jan Paweł II przybył w rejony Dolomitów, do górskiej miejscowości Lorenzago, do willi „Mirabello”, na sześciodniowy wypoczynek. I choć tym razem miało być krótko i bez rozgłosu, spełniło się tylko to pierwsze. Już po przyjeździe podczas kilkugodzinnego spaceru, Papież odwiedził zagubiony wśród lasów domek drwala Luigiego Vecelio, odbył z gospodarzem serdeczną pogawędkę i przyjął zaproszenie do wypicia szklaneczki wina. Mówił, że myśli „kategoriami proboszcza” i dodał:
„kiedyś ludzie szukali [proboszcza] w parafii. Dzisiaj on musi iść pomiędzy nich, musi być obecny wśród ludzi. Skoro ważne jest to dla proboszcza, w naturalny sposób jest ważne dla biskupa. A także i dla papieża”.
Parę dni później na dziedzińcu willi „Mirabello” rozpalono duże ognisko. W ciasnym kręgu, obok uśmiechniętego Papieża tłoczyli się młodzi Włosi z miejscowej Akcji Katolickiej. On rozmawiał z nimi, żartował, słuchał… Trwające kilka godzin spotkanie wypełniły śpiewy pieśni ludowych i religijnych oraz krótkie inscenizacje. Na zakończenie w improwizowanym przemówieniu-gawędzie Papież mówił o analogii, jaka istnieje pomiędzy „wakacyjnym wędrowaniem” i „oddychaniem” a duchową drogą chrześcijanina. Nie zabrakło też życzeń:
„Istnieje przedziwny związek etymologiczny: słowa ’duch’, ’Spiritus’, ’spiramen’ mówią o oddychaniu, o tej funkcji człowieka, która pozwala mu żyć… Chciałbym wam wszystkim życzyć tego oddechu, który pochodzi od Chrystusa ukrzyżowanego i zmartwychwstałego, oddechu, którym jest Duch Święty, dany nam w darze”.
Po wspólnej modlitwie młodzież, z pochodniami w dłoniach odprowadziła Papieża do jego wakacyjnej rezydencji.
